The business has key Research and Development centres located at our operations at Royston and Billingham, UK and West Deptford, USA, each equipped with the state-of-the-art laboratory, scale-up and analytical facilities. A number of our other sites around the world have in-house support R&D facilities. Our dedicated Research and Development teams have expertise across a wide range of disciplines – materials science, chemistry, surface and colloid science, molecular modelling, reactor engineering and fluid dynamics. Our R&D staff are integral members of all of our business teams, which ensures a focus on projects aimed at meeting the present and future commercial needs of our customers.

Additionally, the business draws on the support of Johnson Matthey’s Corporate Technology Centre at Sonning, UK, which offers access to an expanded range of scientific knowledge and analytical resource for our R&D work.
