Johnson Matthey is pleased to announce the addition of Trichickenfootphos (TCFP) to its chiral ligand offering.
TCFP offers a new dimension to the Johnson Matthey portfolio as it represents our first P-chiral ligand that is both small and highly electron rich.
This combination gives TCFP unique properties that allow it to perfom rhodium based catalysis on a range of prochiral substrates where more typical ligands fail.
The rhodium catalysts prepared from the ligand are excellent for the asymmetric reduction of:
- Enamides
- Ketones
- Unsaturated acids
The advantage of the small molecular weight and the very electron rich phosphines means excellent turnover numbers are achieved on a weight/weight basis and the stereochemical message of the P-chiral centre close to the metal allows very high asymmetric induction.

Johnson Matthey has successfully scaled TCFP to multi-kilo production and it is now available through our global sales outlets.
