News Press Release: Johnson Matthey announces new groundbreaking methanol synthesis catalyst Date: 23/06/2009
Johnson Matthey Catalysts (“JM”) has announced the launch of a new generation of methanol synthesis catalysts during the International Methanol Technology Operators Forum (IMTOF) in Amsterdam. This ground breaking development, known as KATALCOJM APICO, will allow methanol plant operators to make more from less by increasing efficiency, and will add valuable methanol production to existing plants whilst reducing the capital and operating costs of new plants. KATALCOJM APICO is manufactured in a new state-of-the-art catalyst manufacturing facility built with proprietary technology at Johnson Matthey’s UK site. Andrew Wright, Managing Director of the JM Syngas & GTL business, said “We are extremely excited to bring KATALCOJM APICO to the market and offer our customers the ability to generate greater value from their operations and benefit from the new generation of catalyst developments. Methanol is gathering greater importance as an energy molecule and we believe this new catalyst is the biggest change that the methanol industry has experienced since we first introduced copper zinc catalysts and the Low Pressure Methanol process in 1962. It is a step change in catalysis greater than all of the cumulative improvements of the last 40 years. KATALCOJM APICO will give methanol plant operators millions of tonnes in additional methanol and associated profits and contribute towards development of a more prosperous methanol industry.” << back |
